

Died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in her 87th year. Beloved wife of John (Chad), loving mother of Helen (John Ecker) of Whitby, Margaret (Gerran Ferrey) of Michigan and John (Brenda) Chadwick of Markham. Devoted grandmother of Chad, Victoria, Edward, Catherine, John and Evan. Sister of Leny (Bill) Vroom of Winnipeg, and Rietje Assink, Miep Breukers, Gonnie Janssens, Nel Meyers, Wim Assink and predeceased by a brother Gerhard Assink, all of the Netherlands. She will be fondly remembered by all of their families. Anneke emigrated from the Netherlands in 1956 and worked as an Operating Room Nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She moved to Brantford in 1958 and started working at the Brantford General Hospital. She married Chad and turned her efforts to raising their 3 children, keeping busy sewing beautiful clothes. She later worked for the Children’s Aid Society running a nursery school. She returned to nursing at the B.G.H. for 19 years as a Psychiatric Nurse in the Mental Health Unit. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre, Dr. John Hadley and Teresa Wright for her loving companionship.
The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL” 96 West Street on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 9 Waverly Street on Saturday November 21st at 10:00 am. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Brant would be appreciated.
