Peacefully at the BGH on Tuesday December 4, 2012 in his 92nd year. Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie (2002). Dear father to Lorna Stratton (Derek) and David Fletcher (Bonnie 2011). Brother of Natalie Brownlee (George) of Ottawa and Tom Fletcher of Ottawa. Dear Grandpa to Ian, Jonathan and Simon (Talia), Great Grandpa to Shea, Leif and Ash. Uncle, great uncle and great-great uncle to many nieces and nephews. John was a teacher for 32 years with the Brant County Board of Education, active in management of Oneida Baptist Summer Camp and Singing Waters Retreat Centre, an active member of First Baptist Church and the former Temple Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 70 West Street, Brantford on Sunday Dec 16th, 2012 at 2pm . Rev Deborah Dempsey officiating. Reception to follow in the Thorpe Brothers Carriage House, adjacent to the funeral home at 96 West Street. In lieu of flowers: donations to First Baptist Church, World Vision, Camp Oneida or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
