Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, surrounded by her children and greeted with open arms by her daughter Amanda on Saturday November 13, 2010 at the age of 59. Loving mother of Robert (Jakki) Protani, Tiffany (Steve) Short-Allard, Crystal Short, predeceased by her daughter Amanda Marie Short. Daughter of Carol and Marie Burns. Dearest grandma of Mackenzie, Riley, Taylor and James. Sister of Rochelle (Tomo), Bobby (Joy), Michael, Leona (Ted), David, Cathy (Ted), Shirley (Rick), Margie (Dave), Brenda (Jim), Theresa (Bill), Pam (Steve), Darcy, Tammy (Jim). Karen will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends at the ‘Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home and Chapel, 96 West Street on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm. Parish Prayers at 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil’s Church, 50 Palace Street on Wednesday November 17th at 11:00 am followed by cremation. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
