Satenig "Sadie" Basmajian Serabian

Passed away peacefully, in her sleep, surrounded by her family on April 7th, 2012 at the age of 97. Born in Diyarbakir, Turkey-Armenia, she was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Basmajian. Predeceased by her husband Setrag (Sid) Serabian. Loving Mother of Margaret Artinian, Harry (Margaret) and Louise (Manfred) Goldschmidt. She will be sadly missed by her many Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Sadie was a faithful witness to her Lord and Saviour. She was a very proud member of Evangel Pentecostal Church for over 70 years. Sadie was a lady of many skills and talents – especially noted for her baking of Armenian delicacies and sweets. Next to God, her greatest love was for her family. Nothing was too much trouble. Her love also extended to many in need and her door was always welcoming. Sadie will be a hard act to follow but what a legacy she has left to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Albright Manor, Beamsville, with a special thanks to the staff of Pine Meadow Unit (2nd Floor) and also the staff of the 4th floor. Loving thanks to many friends and family who faithfully visited and always left with a smile enjoying her impish sense of humour. The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West Street on Tuesday, April 10th from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. A funeral service will be held at Evangel Pentecostal Church, 30 Fairview Dr., on Wednesday, April 11th at 2:30pm. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evangel Pentecostal Church, World Vision or Albright Manor.
