Tony retired from Boeing after 28 years of service as a senior specialist engineer. He proudly served in the Army during World War II as a radio operator with the 10th Army Air Force Emergency Rescue Boat Squadron stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska.
Tony enjoyed his retirement years, becoming proficient in candy and candle making. He and his wife made what may be the world’s best fruit cake. He was also an avid gardener, constructing a beautiful rose garden while residing in Tonawanda, NY and experimenting with hydroponic gardening at his home in Bellevue, WA. He was lucky enough to realize his dream to live in the desert when he and Florence moved to Chandler, AZ in their mid-70’s.
He is survived by his five children: William (Sylvia) of Federal Way, Maryann Hanratty (Dick) of Bremerton, Michael (Nancy) of Norfolk, VA, Barbara McQuade (Patrick) of Kirkland and Robert (fiancée Michelle) of Gilbert, AZ. He also had 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Holy Trinity Parish St Joseph Chapel on Thursday January 14th at 1:00 with a reception following at his home. A private family interment with Military Honors will be held at Miller-Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Parish or the Alzheimer’s Association.
