Brian was born on July 27,1959 in Honolulu Hawaii to Michael J and Margaret A. Jordan. Brian spent his childhood and school-age years in San Diego, California. He attended St. Augustine High School and completed his bachelor's degree on Active Duty with the Coast Guard in Alameda, California.
His uniformed service represented some of the proudest moments of his life. Starting as a deck seamon on the Cutter Henlopen providing Search and Rescue support off the coast of Alaska, he concluded his career as a mustang LCDR at the Joint Inter Agency Task Force West in Alameda. His most fortunate assignment was his posting in London with Coast Guard Activities Europe.
In 1985 Brian met Anne while both were working at the America Embassy in London. Marrying ten years later, together they embarked on the life of a military couple, postings in Seattle, Alameda and Hawaii followed.
On retirement from the Coast Guard, Brian and Anne settled in Bremerton, WA and soon started their own businesses. Anne is a graphic designer but Brian's entrepreneurial streak ran deep. He noted and filled and undeserved niche in the transportation sector in Bremerton. "It Won't Fit" was a soon fixture in Bremerton - solving the need for short haul delivery service when (wait for it) a purchase won't fit in the car and the buyer wants it home now.
Both over achievers, they also volunteered countless hours and resources in the Navy Relief.
In later years, he was a voracious reader and dedicated ancestry researcher. Never one to quit anything, and never abandoning the entrepreneurial spirit, he sold his business and worked a few days a week driving folks from Kitsap County to and from Seattle's SEATAC airport as well as occasionally working for Uber. Passengers' initial surprise in finding their driver to be a well read, articulate and incredibly engaging conversationalist was his best business development tool. He will be missed by many.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Anne. His extended family includes his brothers Mike and Pat, and his cherished nieces and nephews in the US, Megan, Seamus, Rachel, Conner and Aine, and his grand-niece and nephew: Ripley and Rudy, as well as Laura, Christopher, Chay and Elske in the UK.
Brian's ashes will be buried at sea from a Coast Guard cutter at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Brian to either Doctors Without Borders, St. Jude's Hospital or to further the mission of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
