Ernest Leroy Gilbert

Ernest (Ernie) LeRoy Gilbert “Lone Walker” was born 27 February 1967 and passed away peacefully on 23 May 2021 with his family by his side. He was born to Milton and Carolyn Gilbert at Lemoore NAS, CA. He joined the Navy in 1985 and served on the USS Nimitz as a Hull Tech/DC man, till he received an honorable discharge in 1989 where he made his home, here in Bremerton WA.

He started his career in the Shipyard as a shipfitter, until he was hired by the Federal Fire Department until 2012, when he had to hang up his bunker gear and worked for Pass and ID as a Security Clerk until his retirement in 2017.

He married his best friend, Charmel in 2009, where they made a home with their fur kids, Emma Lee, Harley, Rascal, Quincy and Tom-Tom the cat. He loved hunting, fishing and was found often napping with his fur kids. He was also a member of the Mohegan Tribe out of Uncasville, CT.

He is preceded in death by his Mother, Carolyn, and survived by his Wife Charmel, Father Milton, Sister Yolonda Mendez, Brother Ed Gilbert, Sister in laws Sara Rhodes and Kendel Glance, along with many nieces and nephews; Estevan, TJ, William, Christian, Emma, Jocelynn, David, Destiny, Seth, Gabriella, Dakota, Briahnna, Hannah, Haley and Nevaeh, and Great nephews Talon, Jhace, Dean, Warren and Eliajah.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make a donation to a charity of your choice, in Ernie’s honor.

His services will be held at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral and Memorial Park 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton WA 98312 on 6 July 2021 at 1 pm.
