James (Jim) Miller passed away peacefully on June 13, 2019 at the age
Of 96 yrs. old.
Jim was born on Nov. 17, 1922 to William and Virginia Miller in Kalispell, Montana. At the age of 11, he moved to Aberdeen, WA where he went to St Mary grade school and graduated from Weatherwax high school in 1941. After high school, Jim started his university education at Portland State University. After his first year of college the war disrupted his education and at the age of 21 he enlisted in the Naval Reserve where he was trained as an Aviation Radio Man third class. He was honorable discharged in 1946 and returned to Aberdeen, WA. Where he married the love of his life Georgette (Porgie) Pulver from Cosmo polis), WA.
On September 6, 1947. Jim and Porgie soon moved to San Francisco where he received his mortician and undertaker license at San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Jim and Porgie moved to Bremerton, WA in 1948 where he worked for his dad at Miller-Reynolds Funeral Home. While, living in Bremerton, his family attended Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church. He was an active member in The Knights of Columbus and past president of The Chamber of Commerce, Elks, Navy League and Rotary Club.
In 1973 Jim retired and he and Porgie moved to their summer house they built in Belfair, WA where Jim lived until his death.
He was a kind, gentle and polite person. He trusted people and always saw the good side of people. He was a very innovating person. He saw problems as challenges. He would take his time thinking and researching the problem and always attacked his problems in a creative way. He used this same approach in his life and in his business. He loved to work with his hands; he built custom furniture, paddle board and a wooden ski boat that would race up and down Hood Canal. His biggest project was the home he built on Hood Canal, while raising 5 children.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Georgette (Porgie) who he was married to for 65 years and two sons, James Jr. and Timothy and his grandson Michael Gerard all from Lake Tapps, He has 3 surviving children: Ginger Miller from Clinton, WA, Michael (Suzanne) Miller from Lake Tapps , and Teresa Green from Las Vegas, NV. James had 8 Grandchildren Erica (Nick) Sundesten, Alex (Hannah) Miller, Jessica (Brandon) Stoker, Sarah (Steve) Brahm, Adam Miller, Mark (Morgan) Green, Randall Miller and 9 Great Grandchildren.
