Born in Salt Lake City, Judy was the 2nd oldest of 7 children. She was raised in Livermore, CA, and often reminisced fondly about the beautiful, sunny small town of her youth.
After moving to WA, Judy met and married the love of her life, Ed Runquist Jr., in May 1972. They enjoyed 46 wonderful years together before Ed’s passing in 2018.
Judy dedicated 31 years to a rewarding career as the Production Dept. Admin Officer at PSNS, retiring in 1999 with numerous accolades. She was known for her generosity and mentorship, helping many colleagues advance in their careers. She considered her colleagues a large extended family and she cherished the many long-time friendships she developed at PSNS.
In retirement, Judy loved to travel, craft, meet up with friends, and enjoy time with her family and best friend/dog, Sadie. She was a talented and prolific quilter, seamstress, and knitter, and she delighted in sharing her beautiful creations with family and friends.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Lori Ann (Sandor) Maury; son, David Runquist; youngest brother, Richard (Peggy) Steele; grandson, Gunnar Smith; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Linda) Runquist; and many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
Judy’s kindness, generosity, and acceptance touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Rest in peace, Mom.
