Larry Dean Linn, treasured husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died on February 13, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of 22 immediate family members. Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Valicia, their four children, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life, and all of whom looked up to him with reverence. Larry was preceded in death by his twin brothers, his sister, and a son-in-law. Larry was born on September 17, 1939, in Arcadia, Kansas, and was the youngest of four children. Larry grew up smart, without fear, athletic, tough, and always ready for the scuffles his brothers arranged for him. In 1957, at the age of 18, he began a distinguished career of service by joining the United States Navy. In August of 1959, Larry married the love of his life, Valicia. Their shared goal of Larry becoming a Naval officer took them on a journey that crisscrossed the United States. Larry was ultimately commissioned as an Officer in 1969.
In June 1978, after serving 21 years, Larry retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. Larry and Val chose to move with their 4 children to Bremerton, Washington where they purchased their dream waterfront home with a mountain view. Larry continued his service to the country as a Department of Defense civilian employee for eight years at Data Design Laboratories in Silverdale. He then chose to take on an entirely new career as a licensed insurance agent and opened his own Farmers Insurance agency in Poulsbo. He built his agency successfully for 18 years and retired a second time in 2004.
Retirement, however, was far from quiet. Larry was an active member of the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club for roughly 30 years, coached his grandchildren’s baseball and fastpitch teams, golfed often, enjoyed gardening with Val, and fishing on his boat in the Hood Canal.
Through milestone moments as well as everyday routines, Larry led by example. He taught his family what it means to be present, dependable, consistent, and kind. He showed them how to treat others with respect, work hard, be trustworthy, and care deeply. His time, guidance, and love were gifts he gave freely, and they will continue to shape the lives of those he leaves behind.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the New Life Training & Event Center in Silverdale, Washington.
All who knew and admired Larry are warmly invited to attend
