

Lewis was born July, 18, 1933 in Conrad, Montana to Archie and Anna (Alzheimer) Munson. He graduated from Choteau, Montana High School in 1950 and enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War from Oct. 1950 to April 1954. He was assigned to US Navy first helicopter squadron (HU-1) as an Aviation Machinist and air crewman. He also served on board several aircraft carriers and the heavy cruisers USS Bremerton and USS Rochester.
After his honorable discharge, he attended Montana State College at Bozeman, Montana and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1958. He was later employed at Naval Torpedo Station, Keyport in 1961 and retired in 1988 as Head of Resources & Planning Dept. He received Department of Navy Superior Civilian Service Medal upon retirement.
Lewis married his wife Patricia in Olympia, WA on March 31, 1975. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, family and all outdoor activities.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Larry Munson (Jo), Dave Nielson (Ann Marie) and Steve Nielson (Denise); daughter, Louise Munson (Scott); 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren;1 brother and 4 sister.
He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Munson; 1 brother and 1 sister.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2pm at Silverdale Lutheran Church, 11701 Ridgepoint Dr NW, Silverdale, WA.
