Lori Leigh Cole, 49, of Tahuya, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on February 23rd, 2024, in Bremerton. She was born in Beech Grove, Indiana, on August 12th, 1974, to Roger Lee and Karen Sue Brown, the youngest of five children.
Lori moved to Bremerton as a teenager, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1992. She began a career as a government employee at 16 years of age as a student hire, dedicating 33 years of her life to civil service. In 2017, she received the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and commitment to her duty.
Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family. She took great pride in their accomplishments, particularly those of her son Michael, and will always be remembered as their most dedicated supporter. On March 28th, 2014, her family expanded when she began a relationship with her future husband, Rodney James Cole, with whom she spent ten happy years and raised six beloved pups: Millie, Clara, Ajax, Atlas, Aengus, and Argus. Her love of critters was not limited to her pups, Lori also cherished the ten hens she raised on her property in Tahuya.
She is preceded in death by her father, Roger Lee Brown, and is survived by her husband, Rodney James Cole; her mother, Karen Sue Brown; as well as her son, Michael William Gran of Seattle, Washington. With her marriage to Rodney, she was blessed with two “bonus” children, Katie Noelani Cole of Seattle, Washington, and Sean Michael Cole of Shoreline, Washington. She is also survived by her brothers, Daniel William Doss, Scott Michael Doss (Margaret), and Kevin Todd Doss (Shannon) of Evansville, Indiana, and by her sister, Linda Michelle Langone (Michael) of Orting, Washington.
Lori was the warmest, most dependable person, always available to help her loved ones face any adversity with a wry joke and a tight hug.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. Lori was a Type 1 Diabetic, and the battle against diabetes was a cause that was close to her heart.
