Our family mourns the sudden loss of Modesto Soria Cadiente, who left us on February 13 at the age of 80 and is now by the side of his beloved wife Florabel, sharing a lifetime of love and memories- A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend, his impact on our family and community cannot be measured.
From humble beginnings in the province of the Philippines, Modesto built a life defined by discipline, service, and unwavering determination. He honorably served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Handler aboard the USS Forrestal, USS Yorktown, USS Constellation, and USS Nimitz, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer before retiring in 1991.
He continued his service as a Lieutenant with the Department of Defense Police. Beyond his career, he was a third-degree black belt and passionate martial arts instructor who mentored countless youth — teaching not only self-defense, but character, respect, and resilience.
To us, he was everything.
He loved fishing at sunrise, camping under open skies, long road trips, and sitting by the ocean with family. Even during his battle with cancer and heart complications, he remained strong — determined to protect and provide for those he loved.
