Patricia was born Patricia Nancy David on September 22, 1935, at St. Joseph Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to John Thomas David and Veronica Bondina Waters. John and Veronica David moved to North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and had four children: Irene, Floreda, John, and Patricia. Veronica David passed away at an early age, and soon, Patricia was raised by her older siblings in Philadelphia. She attended Merrill Dobbins Vocational Technical School, where she learned secretarial skills as well as general studies. As a young woman, Patricia worked as a secretary for the Philadelphia Phillies during the early 1950s.
In 1951, Patricia was introduced by her best friend, Audrey, to Kenneth Walter Eder, who was serving in the United States Navy while stationed in Philadelphia. It was love at first sight and, thus, began their love affair. Kenneth and Patricia married on November 15, 1952, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and were married for sixty years until Kenneth’s passing in 2013. Together, they raised five children: Stephen, Brian, Kenneth, David, and Susan. Kenneth's military service took them to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, Michigan, and Bremerton, Washington, where they resided for the remainder of their lives. As a testament to her determination, in 1982, Patricia completed a degree in Nursing at Olympic College at the age of 47. Patricia was enthusiastic about her family, loved reading and crossword puzzles, loved the theatrical arts, loved to travel, and was immersed in researching Genealogy.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Veronica David; her siblings Irene (Ed) Haggerty, Floreda (Thomas) Underwood, and John (Mary Ann "Ginger") David; her loving husband, Dr. Kenneth Walter Eder; and her son, Brian Douglas Eder (Robert J.).
Patricia is cherished in memory and survived by her children: Stephen (Joyce) Eder, Kenneth (fiancée' Veronica) Eder, David Eder, and Susan (Todd) Eggers. She was the proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Ryan Eggers, Breanna Eder, Kyle (Lindsay) Eggers, Daniel Eder, Madison Eder, Samuel Eder, and Michael Eder, as well as her four great grandchildren: Andrew Eggers, Avery Eggers, Emilia Eggers, and Ryland Eggers. Patricia also has many beloved nieces and nephews throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California.
Patricia positively impacted the lives of so many people, and all will dearly miss her. She will most be remembered for her selflessness, kindness, love, and joy.
The family of Patricia Eder would like to thank the many angels who helped to care for her, including those at Liberty Shores Assisted Living. Your efforts did not go unrecognized by our family. We wish you peace, good health, and blessings always.
