Long time Silverdale resident Richard Ring passed away May 4th with his family by his side. Richard was a Sr. Chief in the Navy, then was employed at PSNS in the Boilermaker Shop 41. While in the Navy, he served on aircraft carriers, with the 7th Fleet in the Far East. He got out of the Navy during The Vietnam War.
Most people on The West Coast knew him as Dick, or Uncle Dick. On the East Coast he was known by his middle name of Tom. To me, his Wife, I knew him as Sweetheart. I rarely called him anything else. To our sons, he was Dad. To our Grandsons, Grandpa or Papa. Richard Thomas Ring was very special man. He loved to hunt and fish. He had done so since he was a young boy. He had some special hunting buddies over the years, and swapped hunting stories with them. Richard enjoyed our 2 years living in Alaska, because of the fishing for halibut, salmon, and getting King crabs. Richard loved the outdoors and trailering.
Richard lived long and well. He was a good son, husband, father, brother, grandpa and uncle. He was born in Baltimore, MD, December 4th, 1935 to Agatha and John Ring. He had an older-sister, Sister Mary Judith, an older brother John Peter, And a younger sister Dorothy.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Jennifer Lynn, and his sister Dorothy, plus many other beloved family.
Richard is survived by his wife Linda (nee Chennault) Ring, his son Jason Lee Ring ( wife Luana), son Jeffrey Louis Ring (Kathy), grandsons: Richard Lee Ring (Estee), Joey Temple (Diana), and Levi Jeffrey Ring. His sister, Sister Mary Judith Ring, his brother John, sister-in-law Phyllis Chennault, his brother-in-law Darrell Fleshman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved each and every one. He will be missed very much. Until we meet again.
