Sal Fontana of Bremerton, Washington went to be with the Lord at the age of 80 on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Sal served honorably in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Korean Service Medal. For many years afterward, he was the owner of Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant on Kitsap Way. He was a long time member of Abundant Life Church, an original member of the Sons of Italy Club of Bremerton and a member of the Optimists Club of America. Sal was very influential in several other charities throughout Kitsap County. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sarajean Taylor. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, children: Debbie (Dan) Munoz and Steve Crawford. His grandchildren: Robert (Kayla) Kirby, Brian Tundis, Nicole (Damian) Tundis, Meghan (Chad) Hoskins, Ryan (Lisa) Taylor, Daniel (Liz) Womack and 18 great grandchildren. Sal’s memorial service will be held at Abundant Life Church (5610 Kitsap Way) at 1pm on Wednesday, November 29th.
