Tom is survived by Lynne, his wife of 47 years, his sons James (Carrie) and Peter (Hege), and a legacy of grandchildren Rylan, Andrew, Max, Elisabeth, and Emma. Tom is also survived by his siblings Pat Ferney, Ed Mahoney, Evelyn Palmer, Kathy Lynn, and Robert "Rocco" Mahoney.
Tom had a passion for people. He always had time to listen to others and offer his joy of community through music and "talk story". Tom was an active member of Abundant Life Church in Bremerton for 24 years. He was actively involved in Celebrate Recovery, a Christ centered program to help anyone struggling with hurt, pain, or addiction of any kind. Tom completed the chaplain program at St. Joseph's Hospital and volunteered countless hours at the bedsides of seriously ill individuals, comforting them and their families.
Tom had a love for the game of baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox. He had a great passion for music. He enjoyed playing the guitar, especially with others, and even writing a few songs and poetry. He often went to live music concerts and loved to invite and gift others to share the joy.
Tom was a kind, larger than life personality, vivacious and engaging. He was generous and discerning, wise, compassionate and loving, quick to come alongside hurting people. Anyone who has met Tom will never forget him.
