

Aaron was born December 31, 1948 in Washington, DC to the late Aaron Thorne, Sr. and Avonne Thorne. Aaron was the oldest of ten siblings and the oldest grandchild to his grandparents. He attended District of Columbia Public Schools and graduated from Bell Vocational School and he received his Associate of Arts degree from Prince Georges Community College.
Aaron joined the U.S. Army in 1968 at the age of 19 years old, he completed two tours in Vietnam (1969 & 1972) as a door gunner. He was in the 1st Cavalry Division Association. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service in 1988 when he was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mechanic and retired from there in 2004.
Aaron known as Mikey by family and friends loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved his dogs. Out of all the dogs he had during his life his favorite dog was Inspector.
Aaron’s first hobby was photography, he never went anywhere without his camera. There aren’t a lot of pictures with him in them because he was always the photographer. Even though he never called it a hobby, his second hobby was traveling. He would take short trips for a day or two. Occasionally he would take long road trips and drive by himself to Texas, Oklahoma and other places.
Aaron was a member of Crusaders Baptist Church. He was a member of the Men’s choir. He used to donate money or tickets to the seniors and youth ministries outings. Sometimes he attended the outings with them.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Avonne Thorne; uncles Jesse and Zeno and aunts Geraldine, Barbara and Phyllis and a great-nephew Darion Turman Thorne. He is survived by his wife Bonita Thorne; three sons Terrance Thorne, Jamaal Robinson and Aaron Thorne III and one daughter LaKetia Robinson; one grandson Terrance Thorne II; four granddaughters Shanique Chambers, Jada Thorne, Itali Robinson and Payton Thorne. He has nine siblings Alice (Dave) Armstrong, Jesse (Donna) Thorne, Geneva Thorne, Barbara Dorsey, George (Denise) Thorne, Tonya (late Calvin) Pendergast, Alvaroe (Lenny) Mason, Charles (Sherry) Thorne and Anna (Fredrick) Griffin. One Goddaughter Tori Thorne, two aunts Charlesetta (Preston) Curvey and Almah Bandy, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
