She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Roderick Stanley Jones; one daughter, Stacie Nichole Jones; one grandson, Keon Jones; two very special nieces, Beverly A. Mackall and Judy Jones-Terry, other nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Alice M. Jones was born on November 27, 1941 in Calvert County, Maryland to the late James Brooks and Elizabeth R. Brown. She departed this earthly life on June 9, 2022.
Alice grew-up in Calvert County, Maryland where she graduated from William Sampson Brooks High School in Prince Frederick, MD. In her early years, she attended St. Edmonds United Methodist Church and was a member of the 4-H Club. She later moved to Washington, DC where she attended Cortez Peters Business School.
On June 23, 1973, she married Stanley R. Jones, and from that union they had two children, Stacie and Roderick.
Alice was a woman of great courage, wisdom and perseverance. After 30 years of employment with the Visiting Nurses Association, she retired. Alice retired from her job, but not from life.
Alice was a very giving person. She made yearly donations to several organization i.e., Make a Wish Foundation, Susan G Komen, Children National Hospital, Feed the Children, and Wounded Warriors.
Alice enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Although she was not attending church, she stayed in the word by doing her own Bible study first thing in the morning and every night before bed. Some of her favorite scriptures were, Psalm 4:8, I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety; Psalm 9, Psalm 92-1, Psalm 100-3,4,5; and Isaiah 55:11.
She had a passion for reading and spent many hours reading the many books she ordered online or purchased in stores. She also spent many hours on Ancestry.com researching the family history.
Alice (affectingly know as Nana to her grandson Keon, who was the joy of her life) was a devoted loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will always remember that special smile, caring heart and that warm embrace. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
