I never met Amabel in person.  She and I worked together to collect donations for children in need during Christmas of 2020. Our only communication was through text.  Even through text, this incredible woman was so memorable that I often thought about her. She and I tried to organize a time for our families to meet but Covid put a damper on all of our plans so we kept in touch via text, always hopeful that the time would finally be right. She would share photos of her beautiful daughter and ask about my son regularly. She was such a light and I never stopped looking forward to meeting her. I am so saddened to learn about her passing. I pray that sweet Daini and her beloved husband are protected and surrounded by her love and light all the days of their lives.

I can't believe you're gone. You were so kind, thoughtful, graceful, smart, and ambitious. My heart aches for your daughter growing up without her mama. Your memory is a blessing. 

Dear Ama my dearest sister in love, I have so many questions but I know you can’t answer them right now. You are truly missed and you were a true light everywhere you stepped in while on earth, I am grateful for the few times we shared together and I cherish your generous mind. Please pray for Sidney and Diani, rest on sis until we meet to part no more 

Boh, I am still in disbelief that you are gone. I cannot imagine that I am now writing a tribute to you.
Ama, this was not part of the plan. We are told not to question God, but damn it. It hurts.
While we knew each other back in SAC, we got extremely close in 2017 when Mike and I were expecting. 
Making you the godmother of "baby D1" was an easy decision for Mike and me. 
The way you showed concern and love for me during my pregnancy period was a no-brainer for us. 
I was so stoked when I learned you were going to become a mama. 
You were so excited and looking forward to having "baby D1" back in the U.S. so you could spoil her and take care of her. 
Since the news of your passing, I have been reading our text messages and reminiscing about our conversations. 
I found myself laughing at our convos and rants. 
Ama, I am so thankful for the moments and memories we shared. Rest assured that "baby D1" and "baby D2" will get to know each other.
You have now become a guardian angel and will be watching over Sid, "baby D2," and the family.
My friend, sister, cheerleader, and supporter, I love you and will miss you very much. 


Amabel was a vibrant and exuberant spirit that joined the Cincinnati Bar  efforts to make our community a welcoming and inclusive one. Her creativity and always positive attitude affected us all. Ama darling, this is hard. You made a huge impact in our lives and your absence has created a huge void. Sis, you made your mark and left the inscriptions in our hearts forever. You had so much love to share that you gave me friends now turned sisters as you believed so much in sisterhood and the need to always spread love. You instilled in me to always enjoy life to the fullest loving and caring for loved ones. In your famous words “man weh e lep, na e lep. Babe enjoy your life and stay happy”. Banso mami, your warmth, striking personality, your knowledge on almost every topic, oh your special coconut rice (you knew how much I bragged over this your specialty) can’t be replaced.  
Dearest sister, the reality of this extended nightmare hits by the day and it hurts so much. Like you are really gone, never to hear your laughter, your brilliance and enjoy your nurturing presence? Help Baby D and Sid to live with this irreplaceable void you have created. Comfort and continuously watch over them. Your legacy lives on and will never be forgotten. Rest well sister. I can’t say goodbye as it still doesn’t feel right. I love you…so so much and wish you are here, but God loves you most and called you home early to eternal rest.

I remember the first time Amabel stopped by my office to introduce herself. She was a ray of sunshine. She had an incredible energy that was so very contagious.  When I told her my birthday was coming up, and that I had nothing planned, she made all the arrangements, and just told us where to show up.  Amabel's heart was open to everyone. She made you feel like you could accomplish anything. She connected people in a very organic way. And when she told me was pregnant! What a celebration! She was so happy, and we were happy for her.  There are no words to express the devastation to have lost her so soon.  No words.

The Cincinnati Bar Association deeply mourns the loss of Amabel Bunry.  Amabel was an engaged member of our association who took much pride in her important and impactful work with our Diversity and Inclusion Lawyers Connecting Beyond the Law program.  Her insightfulness, intelligence, and kindness always made its presence known. Every opportunity we had to work with Amabel was pure joy.  

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Amabel.  She was a beacon of light that will surely be missed.



Amabel was an amazing lady and it’s my honor to have called her  my friend and colleague.  We met when she joined ADM and spent time in Decatur and became closer when I joined the Compliance department in January 2020.  I reflected on the email she sent me when I joined Compliance as she “Welcomed Me to the Family” and that she did.  We worked on many projects together and she generously shared her knowledge and guidance with me in so many ways and for that I will always be grateful.  Amabel said “Welcome to the Family” and that’s exactly what she sincerely meant and in so many ways that I couldn’t even imagine.  I could always count on that “Happy Friday” email or the heart and smiley face emoji text to make my day.  She would often send pictures of her adorable and sweet daughter, Diani, that she loved so much.  Diani’s pictures would bring big smiles to me and Amabel would tell me to send on to my Mom that she affectionally called “Mom Thelma” as she knew it would brighten her day and bring smiles to her as well.  Amabel’s kindness and sweetness will always have a special place in our hearts and I am truly blessed and thankful to have been a part of her circle of friends she affectionally called her work family. I will truly miss Amabel and her thoughtfulness that would always make my day brighter.  I know she will always be that Angel watching over us when we are working on Compliance projects and we get just the needed direction on how to move forward.
I will truly miss Amabel as she made an impact more than she can ever know.

From the first time I spoke with Amabel, I knew instantly that she would make an impact in me. We spoke often, some times over IM and others we just jumped on the phone to catch up. I would randomly get "Bonjour dear" or "Happy Friday" messages that always brightened my days. When I was on maternity leave she constantly checked on me and I was so happy when I learned she would be welcoming her own bundle of joy. And ever since Diani came into this world, we always exchanged pics of our girls and shared stories, pumped each other up about motherhood and she always had this sense of encouragement for me that not many people have. 

I was heartbroken to hear the news of her passing. I'm going to miss this bigger than life person, one of the few deep down good hearted humans I've ever met. And it saddens me that Diani will not get to know the amazing person her mom was, and how much love she had for her sweet child and her family. But I am certain that her spirit will live on not only through her family but through all of us whose lives she made better. And now she can watch over our "intellibeauties" (as she often called our girls' squad) from heaven. 

We will miss you Ama!!!

It is such a difficult moment to express what I have been feeling with this loss. Amabel was simply one of the most beautiful people inside and out I have ever met and she will forever live in my heart. 

I know it might be difficult to believe that this is happening but I rather believe that Amabel had a mission on this Earth to accomplish and so she did. She was pure joy and love. Every memory I have from her comes up in my mind with that beautiful face and smile. Besides being an excellent and outstanding professional, she had an energy and enthusiasm that nobody in our team has. I could never imagine to meet someone so special, loving and caring in a workplace but just after a couple of calls with her, she just became one of my dearest friends. 

On my birthday this year, I received a surprise call from her singing a "Happy Birthday" song with that angelic voice and I felt a deep love from her even living many and many kilometers away. I used to tell Ama that she was a goddess because every time I talked to her, I could feel so much love and happiness right after. She was simply unique! She could cheer me up in each conversation we had and show the good side of every situation. Amabel had something special that no one has. 

I know that Ama is in a peaceful place, free of anything that can harm her, and I am sure she will be looking after everybody she loves. Baby Diani is part of Ama and we should all look at her seeing Amabel’s spirit, enthusiasm and love.  

Amabel has a true friend from Brazil that will always love her and now I pray for peace and comfort for all of us at this difficult time.

Amabel and I were paired as attorneys involved with a Cincinnati Bar Association program several years ago but quickly became fast friends. I'll always cherish our times together--in her home enjoying a meal, getting to meet her family (particularly her amazing daughter, Diani), sharing fun at a professional soccer match, working on justice-related issues, and inspiring one-another spiritually. She will forever have a place in my heart. For her husband, mother, extended family and thousands of friends, I pray for comfort and peace during this difficult time.

We are so shocked and saddened at Amabel's sudden death.  Amabel was an unfailingly positive, hard-working, and extraordinarily competent member of our team.  She will be missed.

Amabel was the most positive, upbeat, beaming ray of light person with everyone she spoke with.  She was always so easy to work with.  She loved her daughter and husband so very much.  The day before she passed we were working hard on an agreement but we we also laughed and laughed about things that kids do such as the "biting phase."  We talked about her trip to Key West that her family took based on my recommendation and what we were doing for Halloween.  I will miss our conversations and laughs.  

No matter what, she always saw the positive side of everything.  

I will always treasure her comment that she would be honored to "go into battle with me any time."  We made a really great team together ensuring legal protections to protect ADM and customer data.  

Prayers and hugs to Ama's family and friends.  She is such a huge loss on this earth that can never be replaced.  I love you Ama!  Rest in peace.  

I will miss Amabel's friendship very much.  Even though we worked in separate offices, I am grateful that we spent so much in-person time together when she started at ADM and that I got to share my soup with her.  She was a true friend from the beginning and made me and everyone else feel so loved.  When people needed to be lifted up, she would talk about showing them "Cameroonian Love".
