Anthony Jamison Sr., was born on November 16, 1948, in Washington D.C. to the late Andrew Sr. And Oressa Jamison. He was the youngest of seven children. After a lengthy health battle, Anthony peacefully entered Eternal rest at his home on January 23, 2026.
Anthony was educated by the DC Public School System, graduating from Phelps Vocational High School in 1968. Prior to graduating, he was drafted by the US Army and had to beg them to allow him to graduate. Two years later he was deployed to Vietnam. Ten days prior to his deployment date, Anthony married the love of his life, the late Jacqueline (Jackie) Denise Gray on May 21, 1970. Anthony and Jackie were married for 54 years until Jackie’s sudden passing on August 13, 2024. This union produced 3 children; daughters LaNai and Tanya and son Anthony Jr. Anthony also fathered his bonus daughters Shawna and Tynesha.
Upon his honorable discharge from the US Army, Anthony decided to join the Metropolitan Police Department with him ultimately deciding that was not the career path for him. He then went on to join the District of Columbia Fire Department where he stayed until retiring at the ripe old age of 47.
Anthony was a superior family man, father, and grandfather and a faithful, dependable husband. He was also an avid lover of music, fishing, and westerns. While Anthony was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. He looked out for his family, neighbors, and friends. Anthony was the nicest person you will ever meet. The mode was broken when he was made, and Anthony Sr. Will truly be missed.
Anthony was preceded in death by many relatives including his wife and daughter Shawna. Left to cherish his memory are his children, grandchildren Teron, Neil, Shatai, Brinden, and Caiden as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
