Callie Christine Winston

God called Christine home on Friday, November 27, 2020.

Christine gave her life to Christ at an early age and continued her relationship with Christ until her passing. She moved to Washington, DC shortly after getting married to Nelson J. Winston on July 21, 1951.

Christine was a dedicated worker at Bell Atlantic Telephone Company and believed in “doing the right thing the first time”. Christine’s career at the telephone company was very successful which provided her the opportunity to becoming a supervisor.

Christine leaves a rich legacy of love, kindness, generosity and grace. She is survived by four children Gerald Winston, Shelia B. Winston-Graves (Charles), Nelson K. Winston, DeLisa K. Winston (Karl). She is also survived by three sisters, Audrey J. Dabney, Arlene Payne, and Jacqueline G. Martin. Christine’s children abundantly blessed her with 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 4 nephews, 1 step granddaughter, 2 step great grandchildren, 1 granddog, and a host of other extended family members. During her lifetime, Christine developed many rich and rewarding friendships.

Christine was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, husband Nelson J. Winston, two daughters, Donna L. Ellard and Marcia L. Winston, a granddaughter, Danielle A. Ellard, and a granddog, “Colby”.
