

Carlos Garcia, 95, of Riverdale, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Rita’s Adult Care Home. He was born in Usulutan, El Salvador to Salomon Lara and Albertina Garcia. He came to the United States with his wife and two of his children in 1978, due to the civil war in El Salvador. Carlos was a passionate man who enjoyed playing soccer and baseball, building elaborate Christmas decorations that he would show every Christmas at his house, doing carpentry work, traveling, dancing and making new friends. By far his most favorite activity was baking his special torta for family and friends. He worked with the Educational Organization for United Latin Americans (EOFULA) as a driver taking senior citizens to their medical appointments. For his outstanding services to the seniors with EOFULA, First Lady Nancy Reagan honored him at a special breakfast at the White House. Carlos is survived by his former wife, Argentina, daughters Lizett (Thomas) Culley, Evelyn Romero, sons Carlos (Pamela) Garcia, Roberto (Arlene) Garcia, sister Transito Rodriguez, grandchildren Wilson, Alejandro, Nicco, Roberto Carlos, Elena Gabriela, Jeremy, Montserrat and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. A special thank you to the staff of Rita’s Adult Care Home for their loving care and support. Also, thank you to Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for all the arrangements. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Bladensburg, Maryland, on Thursday, December 29. Funeral services from 1:30 to 2:30 PM will follow at the funeral home.
