Carol Ann Leagan, formerly of Fredericksburg, VA was born on October 17, 1938, and departed this life on June 14, 2022. She was born in Portland, ME to the late Francis G. Wadleigh and Carolyn A. Wadleigh and is preceded in death by both parents and husband, John F. Leagan.
Carol grew-up in Washington, DC where she attended Taft Junior High, McKinley Tech, and Washington Bible College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. She didn't know it at the time, but a young man she went to Junior High School with and enlisted in the Coast Guard, would soon return home on leave, and knock on her door to see how she was doing. Not long thereafter, they married and raised four children.
Carol began her first job at Hecht Company in Customer Service once her youngest child was in school. Later she started what would be her final career as a Keypunch Operator for UPS in Landover, MD until she retired.
Through the years, Carol was active in her church and taught youth bible classes. While she really didn’t have any specific hobby, she enjoyed cooking, reading the bible and being with family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two siblings - Natalie L. Yarbrough, Robert G. Wadleigh (Seville) and four children - Carol S. Hunt-Heartley, John H. Leagan (Kimberly), Ann Leagan-Layburn (Glenn), and Robert F. Leagan (Elizabeth), and 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
