

Darlene was born in Washington, DC on September 4th, 1965, to Diane Winslow, who taught Darlene how to crochet to become closer to one another and spend time together before Diane’s passing in 2005. Darlene loved spending time with her family, going on wonderful vacations and attending sporting events. She became a surrogate mother to many people in her life. Darlene cherished her son, Delonte, and her grandchildren, Averie, Karter, and Phenix.
Darlene attended Ballou High School in Washington, DC, before going to work at Katten Law. She dedicated 33 years to Katten, where she made a positive impact and worked hard every day.
Darlene met the love of her life, Paul Lathon. They loved hosting parties in their homes for many family members and friends. Eager to start their new lives, the two were married in their home in July 2003.
Darlene and Paul were excited to start a family of their own and their child meant the world to them. Delonte was born in February 1994 and brought so much love and light into their hearts and home. Darlene loved spending time with him and creating lifelong, wonderful memories.
Darlene’s favorite role in her life was being a grandparent. She cherished very minute she spent with Averie, Karter and Phenix. Her role as Meemaw in their lives was the most important thing to her and she was the best one, according to her grandchildren. They enjoyed exercising with her every weekend. Karter loved practicing his reading with her and trying new fruits he’s never heard of. Averie loved sitting with her and having a snack and singing songs with her. Phenix loved to spend time with Darlene all the time. The kids love their Meemaw so much and she will truly be missed.
Darlene was very passionate about her role as Docket Clerk at Katten Law. Working for the company for 33 years, Darlene achieved so much recognition and many of her coworkers appreciated her hard work and dedication.
Darlene will always be remembered for her dedication to her family and how deeply she cared for those around her. We couldn’t have asked for a better mother/Meemaw/sister/aunt/cousin/best friend/ person in our lives. Her memory will live on n the hearts of all those who loved her.
Darlene was preceded in death by her mother, Diane Winslow, her brother, and her husband Paul Lathon. She is survived by her son, Delonte, her sisters, Serrina and Teresa, and her grandchildren, Averie, Karter and Phenix.
