David Williams Jr., 55, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away surrounded by family and friends on December 4, 2022 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. He was born February 27, 1967, in Washington, DC at Freeman’s Hospital (Howard University Hospital) to Carrie Williams of Washington, DC and the late David Williams Sr.
David was raised in Washington, DC in the Dunbar/Shaw Community. There he was educated in DC Public Schools, namely Scott Montgomery Elementary, Robert Gould Shaw Junior High, and Paul L. Dunbar Senior High School. Throughout the years he maintained strong ties to his beloved community. He would often visit and catch-up with old friends and family.
As a young boy, David was always interested in making use of his hands from fixing his BMX bicycle to repairing a broken appliance in the home. He began his career in the commercial improvement and HVAC field. Until his death, he was employed as a Maintenance Engineer Supervisor at Stoddard Baptist Global Care, Inc. nursing home where he took pride in taking care of the facility, supporting the staff and community, and mentoring the team of maintenance engineers.
David like his father was a car enthusiast. He enjoyed going to car auctions and shows with his friends. David would spend hours cleaning, repairing, and modifying new and used vehicles. Like his babies, he named them (Snowball – the white Range Rover).
David is survived by his wife of 29 years Birlette Williams and children, David III, DeAndre, Deja, DeAngelo, and DeVonte. He also leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Dorothea Wiley of Clinton, MD, Diane Williams of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Denise Williams of Arlington, VA; Uncle, Charles Williams (Carrie) of Rembert, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Affectionately referred to as “Unc” by the younger generation who knew him. David was loved and respected by his family and peers.
He will deeply be missed.
