Eric Potter Bey

A public visitation for Eric will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, Maryland 20722, followed by a celebration of life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Brother Eric James Potter Bey was called home to be with Allah on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in the comfort of family and friends. He was the husband of Sister Teresa Potter Bey. He was the son of the late James Potter and Gloria Aries Potter.

Brother E. Potter Bey graduated from Jamaica Queens New York High School. He joined the military in 1965 and serve several years including the Vietnam War. He was a certified HVAC Engineer and retired from the Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, MD in 2018. He had a joy of listening to Jazz and often called to remembrance about meeting many famous artists in New York. He also enjoyed learning and playing chess.

One of the most important was his love of speaking about Allah and Prophet Noble Drew Ali. Always letting the Moors know that whatever you go through, go through it in the temple.

Brother E. Potter Bey joined the Moorish Science Temple of America, Inc. in 1981 at Subordinate Temple 71, Washington DC and was also a member of Branch Temple 71, Gaithersburg, MD. He served as Mufti Captain retired under the leadership of Brother R. Jones Bey and was the Assistant Chairman of Subordinate Temple 71. He was always willing to aide and assist where he was needed.

Brother E. Potter Bey and Sister T. Potter Bey was obligated on March 6, 1999. With the instructions of Allah and the Prophet their union was built on love, trust, respect, and friendship. Brother E. Potter Bey often mentioned how he would be lost without his wife.

Brother E. Potter Bey is survived by two daughters: Dawn Weatherspoon, Renee Potter (Danny Anglero) and son Eric Potter. Four Grandchildren; Taisha (Eloise) Potter, Tiara Benson, Donnell Benson, Daijah Davis (Linroy). Four great grandchildren; Mia Anglero, Evan Bell, Shai Davis, Milani Davis. Stepmother; Shirley Potter. Sister; Cara Potter Knight (Drake). Brother; James (Jimmy) Potter. Sister in-laws; Thelma Ambush, Margaret Bell, Kathleen Wars (Charles), Lucille Weedon (Charles), Lanthia Gray, Gladys Onley (Charles). Brother in-laws; Oliver Gray (Mary), James Gray Jr. (Annette) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Potter. Sister in-law; Jean Carroll, Betty Ambush, Son; Eric Cornell Jenkins. Brother in-law; Raymond Hackey.
