Eugene Roy Cunanan

Eugene Cunanan, age 41, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at his home in Washington, DC. The fourth of seven kids, he was born on November 1, 1979 in Olongapo City, Philippines to Tomas and Herminia (nee Constantino, deceased) Cunanan. He, along with his parents and sibling, immigrated to the United States in 1986 and he grew up just outside of Washington, DC in Hyattsville, MD. He graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 1997 and subsequently earned an Associate's degree from Montgomery College. Eugene worked as a Branch Sales Manager for Fairway Mortgage and also served as the Director of Membership for the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of metro Washington, DC.

Eugene was very outgoing and has a large circle of friends. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. He loved his pets; his rescued Persian cat Ming Ming, his fifty fish, and his late canine companion, Kayla. He enjoyed trying out new restaurants with his girlfriend Angie, cooking for his friends and family, gardening, and investing in stocks. His enthusiasm over his passions allowed him to find common ground with a variety of people, and through this he made new friends wherever he went. On many occasions, Eugene was the single person in the room who brought everyone together.

Eugene is survived by his father Tomas; four brothers Dennis (Sarah), Jason (Wilma), Ryan (Erika), and Tom; two sisters Jennifer and Joy; three nephews Mikey, Liam, and Aiden; and his niece, Janey, along with his tremendous extended family. He truly brought joy to all around him and will be dearly missed.
