

A visitation for Eunice will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Episcopal Church, 590136th Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20782. A celebration of life will occur Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 5901 36th Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20782. An interment will occur Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.

Beloved Matriarch, Nurse, Lover of God, Family, Education, and Personal Growth
Eunice Atose Aigbedion (née Idahoise) was born on the 30th of July 1936 at Abia, Iruekpen,
Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. She was the third child of 15 children and second daughter of Pa Idahoise Anetor & Ma Okpokhen of Abia, Iruekpen, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria
Eunice passed peacefully on the 14th of December 2024 in Washington, DC, USA at the age of eighty-eight.
Eunice married Joseph Aigbedion in 1964, a federal civil servant, and they shared a remarkable 60 years of marriage together from Lagos, Nigeria to Maryland, USA
Their union produced six children; Dr Eric Osekhunmen Aigbedion, Mr Cyril Iyere Aigbedion (deceased), Mrs Irene Omoye Ehizibolo, Mr Emmanuel Ordia Aigbedion, Arc Alfred Oyakhliomen Aigbedion, Engr Osahon Ogbeide Aigbedion and her children made her the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren.
Eunice’s chosen profession and love was Nursing. She started her Nursing career in Zuma Memorial Irrua, Edo State as a Nurse while living with her Aunty Mama Victoria Abebe.
She worked as a nurse in Edo State, relocated to Lagos State to live with her Uncle
Pa Ehizele and continued her nursing profession working with the Lagos State Government as a public health nurse. She served in various locations in Lagos State and retired after 35 years of service.
Eunice lived in Lagos and sometime after marriage relocated to Asaba , Delta State a city in
Mid-Western Nigeria with her husband who was transferred there on work assignment. Her second child Cyril was born in Asaba during their stay. Eunice worked in Asaba briefly and the commencement of the civil war in Eastern Nigeria caused her and Joseph to relocate back to Lagos whereafter she continued working with the Lagos State Government.
While Eunice worked as a nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others, she also possessed a sharp business acumen, a trait passed down from her father Pa Idahoise. Her entrepreneurial spirit was evident in her ventures as she traded in various business including poultry, transportation, fishery and Avon cosmetics balancing her nursing career with her passion for commerce. This blend of compassion and business savvy made her an inspiration to those around her, and she instilled the importance of hard work and determination in her family.
In addition to her many roles, Eunice was also known for her love of cooking. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and generosity, where delicious meals were prepared with love. She took great joy in sharing her cooking with others, always making sure that visitors left her home with a full stomach and a heart full of gratitude. Her kindness extended to anyone who crossed her threshold, and a warm meal from her was a gift that brought comfort and connection.
Throughout her life, Eunice was known for her selflessness, nurturing spirit, and unwavering commitment to her family. She and her devoted husband, Joseph opened their hearts and home to numerous nieces and nephews, offering them not only a place to live but a loving home where education, values, and dreams were nurtured. Her passion for providing her family with opportunities was boundless. She believed deeply in the importance of education and worked tirelessly to ensure that every one of her children and younger relatives had the resources and encouragement they needed to succeed. A lifelong passion for education guided her journey, leading her to enroll in a Diploma program at Prince George Community College after retirement. Her pursuit of learning was a testament to her belief that education has no age limit.
She was also known as Mummy Festac to many nieces and nephews and also to the road residents association she founded while living in Festac.
Eunice loved God with all her heart, and her deep Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She raised her children as Christians, teaching them the importance of pray, intercession, and trust in God during challenging situations. In every trial, she demonstrated her unshakable trust in God's plan, relying on prayer and faith to see her through difficult times. Her life was a living testament to the power of faith, and she instilled in all those around her the importance of surrendering to God's will and trusting Him in every circumstance.
Eunice was raised in a Christian home as an Anglican and one of her most cherished contributions to the church was the founding of the Ladies' Friendly Society at All Saints Church in Lagos, a group dedicated to fellowship, service, and support for women in the congregation. As its founder, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and compassion, creating a space where women could come together in faith and friendship. Under her stewardship, the society grew and flourished, offering support not only within the church but to the wider community as well. She served as its president for many years, guiding the organization with wisdom and grace. Even after stepping down from the position, she continued to hold the esteemed title of President Emeritus, remaining an invaluable advisor and a beloved figure within the group. In addition Eunice also volunteered weekly as a Nurse at the All Saints Church Clinic where free medical services were offered to the community and she also encouraged her children to volunteer.
Eunice remained a proud and dedicated lifelong member of the Anglican/Episcopalian
community. She was confirmed in St. Paul Anglican at Iruekpen, Edo State, Nigeria and
worshipped at All Saints Anglican Church, in Yaba, Lagos State, Nigeria for over 25 years, Church Of The Pentecost Anglican Communion in Festac Town, Lagos State, Nigeria for about 20 years before relocating to the United States and thereafter worshipped at St. Christopher in Maryland, USA until her triumphant walk to Glory.
