George Vincent Skeete

George Vincent Skeete was born on May 30th, 1935 to parents, Randolph and Inez Skeete.

He attended multiple schools due to his father's career as a policeman. A career path that he followed as he also joined the Guyana Police Force. He worked his way up through the ranks from beat duty to a corporal in 1970 and Police Inspector in or around 1975, then Assistant Superintendent in the mid 1980's. Subsequently, he was promoted to Superintendent which was the climax of his career and he was placed in charge of the Tactical Services Unit until his retirement in 1990.

George met his wife, Mauriette, a school teacher at the Timehri Government School while he was stationed there in 1970. They shared 51 years together and he was blessed to have her dutifully caring for him throughout his recent period of illness.

He was the father of Wesley, Courtney, Sherrylynn, Garfield, Joseph, Monty, Paul, Dwayne and Lavern.

Brother of Ada, Hyacinth Skeete and Felicity Chiume and the late Julian, Shirley Barnwell, Rudolph, Lennox and Archie Skeete. Brother in law of Shirley Skeete, Wandassi Chiume, Gail Skeete, and Annette Skeete. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Father in law of Roxanne Henry, Mishia Skeete, Shelly Skeete, Errol Jack and others. Grandfather of Krissy Cort-Phillips, Danille, Andre, Sammy, Ryan, Christopher, D’wan and others. Great grandfather of Christian, Myia, Elijah and others.

He was a source of quiet strength that will surely be missed by those who knew him and whose lives he touched.
