George Winston Watson was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world surprisingly on November 13, 2023, at the age of 87. However, it is not surprising that George (a believer in Christ) is in the presence of our heavenly Father.
George was born to Alexander and Francina Watson on July 9, 1936 in Washington, D.C. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country. Following the completion of his military service, George married his high school sweetheart Doris. From this union they created a loving home and family. Several years later George retired from the United States Government Office (formerly the United States Printing Office), as a Chief Contracting Officer to enjoy his life with family and friends.
George loved his early morning jogs, gardening, reading the newspaper, cooking, spending time with his wife, and spoiling his grand and great-grandchildren. Not only was he kind and generous to his family, but he was also a humble and good-natured person towards strangers, neighbors, and his church family. George was a Godly, strong, intelligent, and caring man. He will forever be in our hearts and minds.
George is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Doris Watson, his daughter Pamela Watson, his grandchildren Rogers Ferguson III, Christina Brapham (Kenyatta), Danielle Ambrose (Kevin), his great-grandchildren Trinyti, Kaiya, Cam’ron, Tessa, Jorel, Cali, and True, and his sister Laverne Liggins (Maurice), Sister in law Violet Watson, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Alexander Watson Jr., and his daughter Carla Ferguson.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00am on November 27, 2023 at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C.
