

Harold grew up in Washington, D.C., spending summers at the family cottage in Deale, Maryland and he graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 1965. He went on to attend West Virginia University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1967. While stationed in Taiwan, in a then modern day fairy tale fashion, he met Hai, the daughter of an army general, whom he married in July of 1970, bringing forth two daughters, Judith in 1972 and Carolyn in 1975. After his tour in the U.S. Army Harold worked as a contractor for the Control Data Corporation (CDC) at the Pentagon for approximately two years before finding his forever career as a computer programmer with Amtrak, in Washington, D.C., where he was employed for 33 years before his retirement in 2009. Harold loved spending time with his family, gardening, exploring, sailing/boating, fishing, science fiction, astronomy, puzzles, and playing games.
He is survived by his wife Hai S., of Churchton, Maryland; sister, Anne Marie (Don) Deitrich of Shingleton, Michigan; two daughters, Judith Heller and her daughter Isabella Heller of West River, Maryland, her son Russell Heller Jr of Baltimore, Maryland, and her son Riley (Kathryn) Heller and their children Amelia Heller and Theodore Heller all of Newport News, Virginia; daughter, Carolyn (John) Kidd and their daughters, Grace Kidd and Ava Kidd all of Lothian, Maryland; cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harold C. Meador Sr., and Antoinette C. (Yeandole) Gelderblom; brothers, James C. Meador Sr., John Meador; and sister, Mary Cynthia Meador.
A visitation will be held on January 19, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, Capitol Room, located at 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on January 19, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the same location, with a live stream available at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c26016462677834.
The committal service will follow on January 19, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, located at 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.
A repast will be held on January 19, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, Lincoln Room, located at 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.
