Herman attended school and worked odd jobs. He later relocated to New Jersey with his older brother, working at racetracks and night clubs setting up the band’s instruments and meeting many musicians. In 1967, he started to work for Randolph Products until he retired due to his health. Mr. Blizzard gave donations to every charity that came in the mail and tithed faithfully at his church home, Morning Star, every month.
Mr. Blizzard leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Hazel, of 57 years; son, Tony Hargrove; 3 brothers, Leander of New Jersey, Horace of Maryland, and Otis of Nottoway; a caregiver of 12 years, Gloria Neal; 3 devoted nephews, Ernest Adams, Fred William, and Bruce William; sister-in-law and brother-in-laws; Ms. Gloria Neal’s grandson, who Mr. Blizzard called Bumblebee, Jamira; and a host of other relatives and friends.
