Kenneth L. Wallace affectionally known as “Kenny” to family and friends, was born on May 29, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Andrew Wallace and survived by his mother Lula M. McLaughlin. Seven years later, Kenneth moved to Washington, D.C. with his mother and oldest brother, Anthony W. Wallace Sr.
Kenneth received his High School Diploma from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington, DC in 1974. He had fond High School memories being a part of many after-school programs such as the School Band and the African Dance Group.
Kenny met a lot of lifelong friends while living on Tuckerman Street. The Tuckerman Street crew were known for getting together and watching Sunday Night Football and playing cards (Bid Whist).
He continued his pursuit of higher education at Federal City College and TEST Electronics. Kenneth served a 35-year tenure, with C&P/ Bell Atlantic /Verizon as a Frame Technician, Cable Splicer and Central Officer Technician Tester.
Kenneth accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. At an early age of 11, he was baptized and was a faithful member of The Greater First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Kenneth’s love for his church continued until his death. He was most proud of his service to the Usher and Trustee Ministry.
Kenneth’s favorite past time included bowling, landscaping, playing cards, and interior decorating. Kenny had an infinity for lavish artwork, unique sculptures and immaculate home décor. If you knew Kenneth, you knew how much he enjoyed bowling. Kenny’s approach to the bowling lane was rather comical, but don’t get it twisted, he could roll a strike at any given time.
While living on Peabody Street N.E, Kenneth was introduced to his soul mate, Janice Boston by his father, the late Henry McLaughlin. The two enjoyed spending quality time together, attending Jazz Concerts, Comedy Shows, and eating at their favorite restaurant Jerry’s Seafood “Home of the Crab Bomb”.
