Kevin Malachi Wims, age 22, of Washington, DC, died tragically on January 7, 2024. Kevin was born in Washington DC October 28, 2001, to Alroy Wims and Eboné Lavender (Deceased). Kevin was educated in DC Public Schools where he excelled in reading and public speaking. Kevin’s dreams were to become a well renowned public speaker before his life was tragically cut short. Kevin’s past time was mostly reading but selling oils making he’s own money he also enjoyed watching movies, two of his favorites were “Home Alone” and “Shrek”. When he was not watching movies, Kevin was hanging out with friends and family enjoying life with his loved ones.
Even though this tragedy took him away from this world, his life left a beacon of light for those who loved him dearly. Kevin loved reading different genres of books including public speaking and self-help books. Always looking for new ways to educate himself on numerous ways to excel in life. His favorite time of the year was Spring, Summer and Fall. Whenever you encountered Kevin, he always had a book in his hand or backpack. He always greeted you with a big smile followed by a larger-than-life hug. Kevin was close with his brothers, especially with Klyde, Kevin had become the protector of his younger brother Klyde, especially after their mother being murdered, which the two both loved and admired. Kevin was not only Klyde’s protector but his hero. You never saw such love until you saw these two together. Kevin also has a half-sister and three half-brothers, by a different mother.
Kevin was preceded in death by his Mother, Eboné Lavender, and his uncle, Robert Lavender, brother, Jonathan Johnson, Allen and Leroy Wims, his paternal and maternal Grandmother’s, Doris Lavender and Michelle Wims, also his Aunt, Juanda Lavender, and is survived by his youngest two loving brothers.
