

Kimberly Thylisa Mcgregor-Brooks was born August 9, 1965, to the late Wesley and Barbara Mcgregor at Provident Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She departed this life for her eternal rest on March 9, 2024, after an extended illness. Her bright smile, kind nature, and remarkable spirit will be tremendously missed.
Affectionately known as Kim, she accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior at a young age. Throughout her life she had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD and currently active at Kingdom Fellowship A.M.E. Church in Calverton, MD.
Kim was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Western High School in 1983. She attended Hampton University in Hampton, VA from which she graduated with honors, in 1987. Kim was a proud Western Dove and Hampton Pirate. Her daughter, Lauryn followed in her Pirate footsteps and graduated from Hampton in 2022.
Kim was a Certified Public Accountant and spent her entire career working for the United States Federal Government Accountability Office (GAO). She retired from GAO in 2020, after 34 years of dedicated service. She built many everlasting bonds throughout her academic and professional careers.
In 1992, Kim married the love of her life David Brooks with whom she was with until her final moments. From their union came two beautiful children, Cameron Amar and Lauryn Amanda. She loved her family immensely and was a devoted wife and mother. The Brooks’ home was always welcoming as they often hosted holidays and celebrations for close family and friends.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents; Wesley and Barbara Mcgregor, mother-in-law; Barbara Brooks, and niece; Melissa Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband; David Brooks, son; Cameron Brooks, daughter; Lauryn Brooks, two step-daughters; Danielle Jackson, Brittany Brooks, grand-daughter Phoenix, sisters; Tanya Mcgregor & Stephanie McDowell, brothers; Wesley K. Mcgregor, Larry McDowell, and John McLeod, father-in-law; John Brooks, brother-in-law; Michael Brooks, sister-in-law, Darlene Brooks, nieces; Ashley Mcgregor and Amber Brooks, nephew; Ronald Fisher, God-daughter; Blair Lashley, and a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces and great nephews. Kim had many friends, but a special closeness to her GAO partner; Chanetta, fellow Western Doves; Marcia, Terri, Tracy, Kim C., Tammy, and Rhonda, and good girlfriends; Mary and Mabel. Fond memories of her will remain in the hearts of many other relatives and loved ones.
