Larry Mills

Larry Mills was born on July 15, 1962 to the late Alburnes and Shirley Mills. On Tuesday, May 26, 2026 Larry departed this earthly life. Larry was raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina before moving to live with family in Washington, DC. Larry attended Stuart Junior High. He was a proud graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School, Class of 1980, then attended the University of the District of Columbia.

While attending university, Larry started his career worked for the Securities & Exchange Commission. He retired after 40 years of service.

In 1979, Larry met and married Demetria Mills. From this union, a son, Brian and a daughter, Angela, were born. Larry was a devoted family man. He always attended events and school functions that involved his son and daughter. Of the many cherished family moments, Larry was excited to welcome his granddaughter, Khloe. What a joyful family moment!

Larry was involved in multiple sports at an early age, playing for neighborhood recreations and schools he attended. He treasured his long-time brothers, Reese, Eddie and Wayne, who played sports along-side him. His favorite sport, whether playing, watching or coaching, was football. After playing football for many years, Larry truly enjoyed coaching the ‘Invaders’ flag football team as Coach Mills. He was one of the BIGGEST Commanders fans, win or lose!

Larry leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Demetria Mills; his devoted children, Brian Mills and Angela Mills; his granddaughter, Khloe Knox; three aunts, Mamie, Patricia and Barbara; three cousins, Jim, Ricky and Nicole; four sisters-in-law, Renee, Kimberly,

Jennifer and Karen; dearest family friend, Bernadette “Aunt B”; and a host of other family and friends.
