

Leah Brewton made her earthly transition to her heavenly reward on Sunday February 2, 2020, with her devoted daughter by her side. A native South Carolinian, she was born on Oct 13, 1925 to the late Columbus Brewton and Ida Missouri Miller Brewton. She attended Public Schools in Spartanburg SC and graduated from Carver High School in 1945. Her strong desire to be a teacher led her to attend Benedict College in Columbia SC and graduate in 1949.
Leah married Lee S. Manor before moving to Washington DC in June 1951. Leah’s marriage to Lee S. Manor ended in divorce in 1968.
After graduating from college, she taught school in DC for over thirty years including DC Public Schools and Nannie Helen Burroughs Private School.
Leah was the last survivor of seven children. She was preceded by Hiawatha Brewton, Aaron Brewton, Iva Brewton Anderson, Booker Brewton, Freddie Eugene Brewton, and Josephine Brewton.
She is survived by three children, Vern Manor of Washington DC, LaWanda Manor of Upper Marlboro MD, and Angus Demetrious Manor of Columbia Maryland.
Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by Family and Friends
