(July 24, 1932 – August 26, 2025)
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Robert and Marjorie Wheeler, he was later raised by his aunt in Warrenton, Virginia, where he attended Fauquier County Public schools.
Leon joined the United States Army in 1953 and served for eight years. After his military service, Leon began a 31-year career with the D.C. Department of Public Works as a sewer service worker, retiring in 1994 at the age of 62.
He was married to the late Lucille Clay, and from their union, they had four children: Larry, Leon Jr., Marcia, and Brenda.
A visitation for Leon will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:30 PM, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722. A committal service will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722.
