

Mary Church Terrell Williams Marshall transitioned from this life on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 101. Born in Covington, GA. Mrs. Marshall grew up in Atlanta, GA; graduated from Booker T. Washington High School; received a B.S, in Biology and Home Economics from Clark College(now Clark Atlanta University) and M.S. Degree in Nutrition from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. Mrs. Marshall worked as a research nutrition scientist for 37 years in the Human Nutrition Research Division, Agricultural Research Service, Beltsville, MD. After retirement, Mrs. Marshall served for 13 years as a volunteer docent at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, and for 4 years at the Bead Museum. Beloved widow of the late Dr. Lawrence M. Marshall, Sr, Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Howard University School of Medicine. Three sisters and one brother predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Marshall, Jr.(Patricia), and 2 daughters, Gwendolyn Whitfield and Judith Johnson(Nedrick), 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a host of great nieces and great nephews, relatives and friends. Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 10am-11am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St.Anthony’s Church, 1029 Monroe St NE, Wash. DC. Interment: Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
