a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Matthew, our beloved son, brother, family
member and friend, who grew up in Wheaton, MD, was born September 19, 1985, in Takoma Park, MD;
the only son of Solomon and Pamella Atayi. He attended Highland Elementary School, Sligo Middle School, Albert Einstein High School, and graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2010, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.
Matthew dreamt of owning his own business and not having to work for anyone but himself. After graduation from university, he pursued many business ventures before landing on, and creating his own brand. Bat Life is where he showcased his musical talents and those of other recording artists in the local area. While pursuing his dreams of entrepreneurship, Matthew was also employed at Comcast. He
worked hard to support his young family, whom were the dearest to his heart.
To those who knew Matthew as Trust, he was a major source of encouragement. He was an extremely
optimistic young man who was devoted to those whom he loved. Matthew is survived by and will be missed every day by his parents, Solomon and Pamella Atayi; his sister, Nicole; wife, Jessica; daughters, Rosaiah and Reina; brother-like cousins: Melvin (Folly), Corey, Daven, Kemar, Rasheed, and Michel’deangelou; sister-like cousins: Renee and JohVonnie. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Carmen Glanville; uncles, Franck and Marc; aunts Cheryl, Ann, Norma, Joan, Lea, Rebecca, Kayi, Akuele, Dodo, their spouses, and a myriad of other family members not just in the United States, but in Jamaica, Togo (West Africa), England, and Paris, France.
Those who knew Matthew—even if a little—lost a shining light in their lives. As much as he is loved here on Earth, we know that Matthew is now in Heaven, resting in the arms of the Lord Jesus, along with his maternal grandfather; paternal grandparents; friends who have gone on before, and all his wonderful ancestors, near and ancient, who’ve been waiting for him.
