

Patricia Ann Thorne, affectionately known as “Trish Ann” was born on December 3, 1947, in Washington, DC. She transitioned to her heavenly home after a brief illness on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was the second oldest of eight children to the late James and Henrietta Carswell, both of whom preceded her in death.
Patricia attended elementary and secondary schools in Woodridge corridor and graduated from McKinley High School. From an early age she always felt that she was the second mother in charge of her siblings while her parents worked. She took on the role of assisting her siblings with their homework and chores before Dad and Mom came home from work.
Early after graduating high school, she met the love of her life, the late Charles Thorne. They were happily married for years and resided in the District of Columbia.
Patricia began her career working with various employment opportunities for over 35 plus years. She showed energy and enthusiasm in several positions at Fletcher’s Jewelry, Diener’s Carpet and as the Seafood Manager with more than 20 plus years.
After retirement, Patricia chose to live a quiet life spending most of her time working in her yard planting flowers, ordering items from QVC and HSN and faithfully watching TV game shows, especially “The Price Is Right”, her favorite show. In conversations, she spoke about her neighbors and former co-workers by name as if you knew who they were. Her family was first, especially family gatherings where laughter and memories were shared. Memories will always be forever remembered.
Patricia memories will be cherished by a loving family: her sister and brother Yvonne and Darrell Carswell; Sister-in-law Carolyn Carswell; nieces: Kimberely, Adrienne, Chantell, Stephanie, Nadia and Roxanne; nephews: Kevin, Ronald Jr., Erik, Darian, Darius, Eric and Demitrus. A host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Ronald Sr., Michael, Margaret, Loretta and Gwendolyn.
A visitation for Patricia will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM at Bethesda Baptist Church of DC, 1808 Capitol Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM, 1808 Capitol Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002. A committal will occur Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
