
Paul B. Smith transitioned on May 26, 2025 at the age of 85 years old. He was born in Washington, D.C. on October 3, 1939 to the late Alfred and Naomi Smith. Paul attended Lucy D. Slow Elementary, Banneker Jr. High, and Phelps Vocational High School where he graduated. He also attended college in Walnut, California. Paul was very talented, he worked as a Electronics technician, Electrician, Plummer, and Maintenance Mechanic. Paul served in the United States Airforce as a Technical air command Aircraftsman mechanic, where he worked on three different types of aircrafts. After being honorably discharged from the United States Air force, his life launched into high gear; within the next 25 plus years. Paul worked at various locations, using all his talented trades and skills. He worked at the State department in Washington DC as a electronic technician. He also worked in Chesapeake at Potomac Electric Company as a telephone repair man. He supervised in the making of printed circuit boards. Paul worked on electrical circuit breakers in New York's subway system. He also owned a home improvement business doing general contracting work. Paul worked at Washington Hospital Center as a Engineer Mechanic for 30 years, where he then retired. Paul enjoyed fishing, photography, and he loved those Commanders.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Naomi Smith; siblings, Alfred Smith Jr., Edith Stern, Mildred Yancey, David Smith, Alonzo Smith and Naomi Fountain. Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years Naomi Smith; sister Pauline Oliver; his children Wendell Smith (Angela), Paul Brian Smith (Cynthia), Duane Smith (Joanne), Gary Thomas Jr., Donna Thomas, and David Thomas (Cheryl). His grandchildren Turon, Ginger, Nya, Josiah, Heiden, Steven, Wendell II, Wendee, Brian, Arielle Lee (Dan), Justin, Marcus, Malcolm, Michael, Tatijana Smith, Adasyn Smith, Domonic Thomas and Octavius Thomas. His Great Grandchildren; Bianna, Gianna, Aira, Demetrius, Xavior Smith and Jeremiah Thomas-Campbell.
A visitation for Paul will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in The Little Church at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722. A committal service will occur Saturday, June 21, 2025 12:00 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
