It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Richard Orson Bobbitt announces his peaceful passing on Tuesday June 11, 2024, at the age of 83 years. Richard was born in Washington, D.C. on October 9, 1940, to parents Percy J. Bobbitt and Mary Louise May Bobbitt. He had 1 brother and 4 sisters. He later settled down in Maryland where he married and had three children. Richard was a smart, talented and hardworking man who always provided for his family. He was kind, generous, and always willing to help out a friend in need. He had a great sense of humor, he cracked jokes with his grown children, made silly faces with his grandchildren and even pulled some lighthearted pranks at times. He had the ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed. He faithfully enjoyed attending church and served the Lord throughout his life. Other things Richard enjoyed were spending time with family, fishing, taking long scenic drives, and telling old stories of his youth. By 1993 Richard relocated to West Virginia where he would live for the next 25 years then due to illness returned to Maryland in 2017 to be closer to family. Despite his illness he continued to keep his faith in Jesus Christ and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered. In his life he experienced success, lived well, laughed, loved much; gained the love of children, and grandchildren, filled his niche and accomplished his task; he left the world better than he found it; he lived his life and gave it the best he had.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his children Jennifer Buarque, Katie Jackson, Matthew Bobbitt and Matthew's wife Jennifer Bobbitt. Grandchildren Rachel Watson, Moriah Mora, Jacob Nixon, Naomi Nixon, Kayla Jackson, Faith Jackson, Fisher Bobbitt, Cooper Bobbitt, Emma Bobbitt. Great-grandchildren Elizabeth Mora, Genevieve Mora, Violet Mora. Gavin Watson, Sloane Watson, Merryn Watson, Avery Jackson, Elijah Duarte. Sisters Joan Bobbitt Holden, Carroll Bobbitt Lunceford; and many other family members and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Percy J. Bobbitt, Mary Louise May Bobbitt, siblings LeVita May Bobbitt Maier, Percy J. Bobbitt (Bud), Elaine Rose Bobbitt and grandchild Michael Dean Buarque. He was a loving father and true friend who will be deeply missed.
