

Sandra Donnell Dunaway was born in Washington, DC on July 31, 1954 to the late Samuel Lee Davis and Carrie Garvin Davis. After a long illness she enter into eternal life on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Sandra accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized in the late 60’s at Purity Baptist Church. Later she would continue to worship and visit God’s Anointed Evangelistic Ministry, Inc. with her daughter and grandchildren until her untimely death. She was married for 40 years to the love of her life Francis H. Dunaway. She gave birth to two daughters Shawanda M. Hardy and April E. Dunaway.
Sandra was educated in District of Columbia Public School system. After high school, she took college courses to further her education. After college, she started working at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 1972 and worked both in the Office of Legal Counsel and the Office of Federal Operations as a Control Room Supervisor and a Paralegal Specialist in the Compliance and Control Division. She retired in June 2006.
Sandra loved her husband, family and friends. She loved to prepare food for gatherings for her family. Her family loved her cooking especially her corn pudding which she always prepared for the holidays. Her grandchildren loved grandma’s banana pudding and fried chicken. She loved to go to church, sing, travel, have cook-outs, go to the park and just spend quality time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband Francis, her two children Shawanda and April, two grandchildren Jaden and Janiyah “grandma babies” of Landover, Maryland; her sisters Carol Hooks (Ned) of Washington, DC and Johnnie Mae Staley (Charles) of South Carolina. Her nephews DeRohn, Antwan, DeRohn Jr., Eric, Tyree, Christopher, Devon, Eric, JoJo, Michael and Matthew; Her nieces LaKeisha, Tatyana and Ciara, Alize, Tiinaye, Miranda. Her dear aunts Ruth Legette of Glenarden, Maryland and Gwendolyn Milligan (David) of Washington, DC; and host of family, friends and former coworkers.
