Wally and various co-pilots would visit us every Thursday thru Saturday on his layover for several years in 1980-82. He was a very kind man who always went out of his way.  RIP.

Wally was a very unique man.He was so full of life,vivacious,and an amazing conversationalist on oh so many subjects! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.Love ,hugs,and our deepest sympathy to Rose and the family,

We are so grateful to have known Wally. When we moved to the neighborhood three years ago, he and Rose were some of the first neighbors we met as they took their daily walk. Wally made us feel extremely welcome and fully embodied the spirit of community and neighborliness that we cherish about Mount Rainier. Wally's  genuine interest in others lives (and memory!) was remarkable. After meeting our parents once, Wally would ask about them all by name over the next two years. He had a particular fondness for Mike's brothers dog, Ranger, who joined the pack of neighborhood dogs for the summer of 2019. The neighborhood isn't the same without Wally and we miss him very much. 

Walter and I were Very blessed to have Wally as a father and father-in-law. He was a Very special man♡. Rose & Wally produced a wonderful & kind son, Walter Louis Magruder, for that I am grateful!  I am sure he is proud of him, as am I! He and Rose made me feel very Welcome to the family. ♡Walter talks about him all the time and is devastated that he is no longer with us, still in shock.♡ With Great sadness and breaking hearts♡ we were unable to attend his memorial, due to Our Health issues and circumstances beyond our control. We are there in spirit with him and Know he understands! Prayers to all of the family during the difficult time! This picture was taken in WA state at Thanksgiving a few years back, a special day! He is LOVED♡ and missed, every moment of everyday! ♡Love you DAD!!


As a newcomer to Mt Rainier, Wally instantly made me feel welcome. He always stopped to say hello when he made his daily "rounds" - his long walks around the neighborhood. I loved hearing his stories of adventures and travel. He always made time to ask about me, my family, and of course my four-legged friends. I was always struck, too, by his love for Rose - even when she'd only been gone a few hours, he was like a young man waiting for her return. What a remarkable man.

Wally was a huge part of our 32nd Street neighborhood and all of Mt. Rainier.  He knew everybody and never failed to chat with all he came across in his walks, especially dogs. He had a huge heart that he shared with us all.  He was a great example of caring about your neighbors.  We will miss him terribly. 

Wally was a good friend. We knew him for many years. He was like another father to our son Matthew.  He took Matthew for a ride in a jet once that he was delivering to someone. He will be sadly missed.


The realization, I will miss my father for the rest of my life,  fly with the angels, I love you! You gave me a wonderful life! Thank you!
