Willie K. Senn Sr. was born on October 11, 1939, to the late Mr. Johnnie Senn and the late Mrs. Willie Mae Burton.
Willie Mae Burton.
He attended public schools in both North and South Carolina before moving to the District of Columbia, where he worked faithfully in many professions. Willie K. served as a mail handler at
the Union Station Post Office, a chauffeur for CSX Railroad, and later pursued his long career as a cab driver until his retirement in 2002. Known for his deep knowledge of Washington, D.C., he
could direct anyone through the city’s streets long before GPS was invented.
Willie K. gave his life to Christ in 1958 when he became a member of Bible Way Church of Washington, D.C., under the leadership of Bishop Smallwood E. Williams. He was baptized in Jesus’ name and shortly thereafter received the gift of the Holy Ghost. During his years of service at Bible Way, Willie K. was an active member of the Young People’s Usher Board and the Joy Belle Choir. On July 31, 1970, he received his Clergyman’s Identification Card and was
later elevated to the office of Elder.
It was at Bible Way Church where he met the love of his life, Josephine Joyner. Together they built a life filled with faith, family, and love.
Willie K. was a kind and loving man who cared deeply for his family and for everyone he met. He was never shy about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and often reminded others of God’s
love. He would gladly offer anyone a ride to church, always eager to lead others to the Lord. His words and actions reflected his heart for ministry and his desire to see others know Jesus. Outside of church and family life, Willie K. enjoyed fishing and took great joy in both fly and saltwater fishing expeditions. At home, he maintained large aquariums and often spent time at Bass Pro Shops collecting the latest fishing gear. His enthusiasm for the outdoors and his
storytelling about fishing adventures were unmatched.
On September 11, 2025, Willie K. departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his children, Jeffrey Senn and Alma Senn.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Josephine; his children, Gwendolyn Roberts, Lois Ann King, Laura Senn, and Willie K. Senn Jr.; his grandchildren, Tiffany Senn, Jasmine Senn, Marcus King, Christopher Senn, Daniel Roberts, Shayla Senn, Symone Senn and Willie K.Senn III; daughter-in-law, Sabrina Senn; son-in-law, Bourgh Roberts; sisters-in-law, Janie Senn and Roxie Senn, along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Willie K’s life was defined by his faith, his generosity, his laughter, and his devotion to family. To know him was to experience his kindness and to hear about the goodness of Jesus. His memory will live on as a source of inspiration, love, and joy to all whose lives he touched.
