Audrey LaVere Johnson

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Bayard with Pastor Bradley Kihlthau officiating.  Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery, north of Minatare, NE.  Visitation will be an hour prior of service on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bayard Community Bible building fund.  Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.bbchapels.com.  Bayard Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Audrey was born on June 14, 1920 in Bayard, Nebraska to Fred and Ermyl (Bedwell) Steffensmeier. She graduated from the 8th grade in 1934 in Morrill County, NE.  She married Cleve Richard Johnson December 23, 1938, he passed away September 15, 1963.  Audrey and Cleve sang gospel songs on old KOLT radio station in the early 1950’s.  She was a member of the Bayard Community Bible Church.  She completed several Bible study courses, was a Sunday school teacher and a student of the Bible. Her goal was to read through the Bible each year. She later married Hershel Guy Johnson March 8, 1965, he passed away on April 20, 2012.

Survivors include her sons Richard Cleve (Patty) Johnson and Thomas Gordon (Bev) Johnson; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren and siblings Jack Steffensmeier, Freddie Steffensmeier, Wilma Jean Robuck and Betty Cabresa and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Mabel Parriott, siblings RaeElla Lovell, Lorraine Cranmore, Bill Steffensmeier and Joe Steffensmeier, great grandson Tyrell Johnson and husbands Cleve Johnson and Hershel Johnson.
