

Funeral services for Bertha L. Kaiser, 101, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Bayard, who died Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Bayard with Rev. George Naylor officiating. Burial will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1237 Ave. A, Bayard on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and hour prior the service on Thursday.
Bertha was born on September 26, 1907 at Yankton, South Dakota, the daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Schramm) Schmidt. She attended school at Kaylor, SD till they moved to Parmlee, SD, when a school was built she continued her education.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Henry Kaiser on November 7, 1926 at Norris, South Dakota. They farmed there and then moved to Bayard, NE. She was a homemaker and worked at the Western Auto in Bayard. She was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Bayard. While living in Parmalee, she was a member of the Ladies Society of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. The couple was honored as Gold Star Parents as a result of their son, Theodore Kaiser being killed in the Korean Conflict.
She is survived by her children, Harold (Sue) Kaiser of Kearney, Virginia (Gary) Faessler of Bridgeport, Eunice Eirich of Bayard and Sharon Heldt of Omaha; twenty Grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (January 10, 1994); daughter, Deloris Dalbey; sons, Arnold, Arvin and Theadore; granddaughter, Debra Eirich; parents, Margaret and Daniel Schmidt; sisters, Edna Bertsch, Louise and Alda; brothers, Walter and Ferdinand and sons-in-law, James Heldt, Harvey Eirich and James Dalbey.
