

Bonnie M. Barker, 85, of Bridgeport passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport, NE. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Platte Valley Bank. Bonnie was born March 8, 1931 at Nonpareil, NE the daughter of Louis and Rosa (Shimek) Teansky. She attended school in Hemingford, NE. On January 16, 1951 she was united in marriage to Glenn Charles Barker in Alliance, NE. The couple lived in the Hemingford and Harrison areas before making their home in Bridgeport in 1960.
Bonnie was a wonderful homemaker, took many meals to the fields and enjoyed driving a beet truck during beet harvest. She loved being with family and friends and going to watch her kids’ and grandkids’ many activities including rodeos, 4-H, gymkhanas (which she participated in as well), and sporting events. Her family loved her cooking – especially her famous pancakes and brownies.
Survivors include her children Rhonda (Brent) Block of Gothenburg, Lynda Barker of North Platte, Lonnie Barker of Bridgeport, Shanda (Eric) Rummel of Morrill; brother Jerry (Pat) Teansky of Montrose, CO; Grandchildren Evan (Cass) Stark of North Platte, Gage Stark of Lincoln, Dakin (Dallie Forkner) Rummel of Bridgeport, Chandler Rummel of Torrington, WY, Anthony (Fiancé Angelica Gonzalez) Barker of McGrew, Tiffany (Ezell Rios, Jr) Barker of Lincoln, NE, Ryan Barker of Bridgeport, NE; Great Grandchildren Kooper Rummel of Bridgeport, Scout Stark of North Platte, Jazerae and Ezell Rios III of Lincoln; Step Grandchildren Todd (Heidi) Block of Fremont, Amy (Jamie) Headley of Gothenburg, Isela (Josh Orozco) Chavez of Wellington, CO; Step Great Grandchildren Joseph and Benjamin Headley of Gothenburg, Adrian Smith and Fabian Orozco of Wellington, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, sister Wilma Louthan and her parents
